Fresh Tomatillo Salsa Verde

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound tomatillos (also known as Mexican green tomatoes)
  • 2 small jalapeno chili peppers
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 cup fresh cilantro
  • salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 clove garlic, peeled (optional)

Directions:

Remove dry paperlike skins from tomatillos. Put tomatillos, green peppers, onions and cilantro into a blender and blend until coarsely chop. Add salt and sugar to taste. This salsa is great for chips or on burritos.
